Warrenton Functional Fitness, formerly known as CrossFit Warrenton, is celebrating its grand reopening with a ribbon-cutting at its newly constructed, 4,000-square-foot facility Sept. 28. The new location at 35 North Hill Drive marks a significant expansion for the gym, which aims to offer a wider variety of fitness options beyond its traditional CrossFit offerings.
Crystal and Justin Willis, the husband-and-wife team who co-own the gym, have a long history in the Warrenton fitness community. They started their business in 2009, running a garage gym out of their home in Amissville. After two years in a 1,000-square-foot space in Warrenton, they moved to a 4,000-square-foot facility in Old Town Warrenton, where they remained for over a decade. Now, after 15 years, they have achieved their goal of constructing a new gym from scratch.
The grand reopening will feature an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. Attendees will be invited to participate in a complimentary community workout, and several local small businesses will be present.
In a statement on the gym’s Facebook page, Crystal and Justin explained their motivation for the expansion and the gym’s new direction.
“After fifteen years as a small business in Warrenton, we finally achieved a long-time dream: opening our very own facility. We couldn’t have done it without the support and loyalty of our members,” they wrote. “Our goal is to grow into our new space in a way that honors our commitment to serving the community while expanding our class options.”
With the new facility comes a broader range of fitness programs. In addition to CrossFit, which the gym continues to offer, Warrenton Functional Fitness will now include classes like bariatric fitness, geriatric fitness, youth sports training, functional pump and PITAIYO, a blend of Pilates, yoga and Tai Chi. Members will also have access to the gym 24/7, providing more flexibility in their workout routines.
The facility is staffed by eight Level 1 Certified Trainers, many of whom hold additional certifications. The gym’s programming is designed to cater to individual athletes, focusing on strengths, weaknesses, injuries and limitations.
The Willises emphasized the importance of this personalized approach in their statement: “Our coaches stand out from traditional counterparts through their specialized expertise in functional fitness. We emphasize personalized guidance and tailor workouts to individual needs.”
Despite the gym’s broader offerings, the couple made it clear that CrossFit remains central to their identity.
“CrossFit Warrenton is still affiliated with CrossFit and it represents the cornerstone of our community and the foundation of everything we do,” they wrote. “We’re excited about this new chapter and look forward to growing together as Warrenton Functional Fitness, the home of CrossFit Warrenton.”
The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting and open house to learn more about the expanded services and meet the coaching team.
Warrenton Functional Fitness is located at 35 North Hill Drive in Warrenton.
